The Bridge

2 min read
It has been a while since I've contributed to deviantART, and a while since I gave up my membership, so I apologize for the anaesthetic blog post. However, it feels dutiful to inform a community of artists as to a recent accomplishment of mine, if only to wave my arms a bit and say 'Hey, look over here! I've done it and so can you!'

This is all to say that I've finally self published.

The Bridge has been distributed slowly but surely over the past month to over fifty friends, and I've more orders on the horizon waiting to be met. Additionally, I have converted the book into a few ebook formats to make it clear that I am willing to let the book finally leave my bosom and enter the real world.

This post serves to accomplish three things.

1. It seeks to inform aspiring writers that things aren't that bad, and are rather quite easy. I would be more than willing to help out a few aspiring writers in the self-publication process.

2. It seeks to advertise, only slightly, the book itself, in the case that anyone is interested in taking a glance at it. The Bridge follows the tale of a young man who, through whatever fortune attaches itself to his life, finds himself homeless. In struggling to cope with these states of affair, he is forced to come to terms with the reality surrounding him and the lies which have created him. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing an ebook or paperback via the note system.

3. It seeks to request reviewers. Nothing helps growth in any business like word of mouth. If you have history in writing or reviewing, I'd be more than honoured to enlist your services with regard to my book. Reviewers receive free Ebooks from which to review (I sadly cannot afford to distribute pbk copies for free).

If any of these things entice you, please send me a note and I will get back to you as shortly as I can (even if I do not frequent dA too often, I do check for notes and comments reasonably often).

All the best and warmest regards,

Charles

Journal 80 and 2: on the nature of my absence.

I've been absent from deviantart for a bit, as I tend to do. For anybody who actually cares why I might have taken part, or why my profile seems in such disrepair, here is a brief summary.

My membership expired and I was left without funds to renew, being a student trying to live with 150$ or less for food per month on top of an interesting collection of red ink. The resultant inability to customize my profile left me with a fair bit of distaste, as many may know that my more recent contributions to the community have been features, augmented by snippets of my poetry or philosophy, so that they are put in a different context. It's an exploratory feature which I can no longer do without a subscription. And, so, I remain without considerable contribution of late.

My further inactivity is due to a few projects I am endeavouring in. These include a novella which I intend to self-publish this summer, another book which I intend to finish by mid winter, a couple essays on functional minimalism in aesthetics, an exploratory essay on relationships, a project on combining language and music into a bidirectional language-to-music process, and of course, my  continuing university studies.

I think I'm finally catching light of a pursuit for something I can love, and where there is passion there is art. So, don't give up on me yet:

Everything is subject to change, but change is not one of these things; and so I am constantly in a state of change, because it is the only changeless thing I know. Join me.

S,

Charles

Pardon my profile. My membership has expired and I am without the funds to renew it currently and return my profile to its former state. I will return, hopefully sooner than later. Until then, just _________ .
